Learning and Understanding LinkedIn as a Simple Bridge of Connections by Degrees
The importance of networking is mastering the tools of our trade that are vastly available to us on the internet. There is one tool that has puzzled me for the last year “LinkedIn”. Over the past few months, I have really been wondering if this real time resume tool was worth my time. But, before I wrote it off I needed to really explore deeper to understand the mechanics on LinkedIn.
Sometimes network marketers and recruiters treat LinkedIn like every other social networking tool in a race to make connections. Understand the theory behind LinkedIn as a real time resume ‘branding you’ building a bridge of connections by degrees by categories “Associate, Colleague, College Friend, etc.). Understand the degrees of connection as a filter of how closely you are connected and granted access to a specific person. Understand that before you complete your profile you have the task of receiving two recommendations from two of your connections. So, choose your connections wisely in order to complete your profile. Yes, this has puzzled me for months. While I’ve received wonderful recommendations from others my profile is still not 100% complete.
On this journey of discovery, I have come across some very unique videos to share with you. These videos really gave me some insight into the utilization of LinkedIn.

Jay Deragon Relationship Economy Interview With Mike O’Neil “Closed Or Open Network?”

The realization that LinkedIn is more than a bridge of connections it’s has some ladders, too.
